This event is affiliated to our Coventry Educational Conference on Tackling Domestic Violence and Abuse (DVA) in faith communities, which we are hosting in association with Coventry Interfaith Network. The event is part of this year’s Interfaith Week events in the city. It is exclusive to national multi-faith leaders, especially those who have participated in our initiative throughout the year. Because of the purpose of this event, we will be joined by social action champions, and high profile regional and central government officials.
The Coventry Conference on the 20th of November, will be our sixth of its kind in the Midlands. Our aim for this Faith Leader’s Ceremony is to richly inspire national multi-faith leaders to start taking the lead in eradicating DVA in our society, beginning in faith communities. Activities during the evening include a declared commitment to a zero tolerance of any form of DVA in faith communities, especially Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), and Forced Marriage (FM).
In line with our vision, we will additionally exhort faith leaders to embark on the much needed tangible social action that transforms faith communities into fortresses of refuge & practical resources for adult & child victims; while tactfully challenging perpetrators, applying significant measures to protect adult and child victims where required.
This ground breaking ceremony will be held as a conclusion to our series of conferences across the Midlands this year. There will be speeches from high thinkers and thought provoking orators, and light refreshments, in addition to the signing of the declaration by individual faith leaders.
We therefore warmly invite all national multi-faith leaders, especially those in the Midlands area to join us at this fringe event, that will incredibly drive for multi-faith communities to lead in the eradication of DVA, bringing lasting transformation that will have an impact generation after generation. Advance registration is recommended.
