Impact Of DVA On Children & Adolescents

PLACES ARE LIMITED. REGISTER HERE …

Domestic Violence & Abuse (DVA) , including child sexual abuse and exploitation, distorts children’s perceptions of relationship, blame, cause and effect, and has impact on their multi-dimensional growth and development.

Child victims are the most vulnerable in the family matrix, and they need protection from potential harm and intervention that precisely addresses to the impact of harm that has already occurred as a result of witnessing and or experiencing DVA. The best way of protecting a child is by empowering and supporting the non-abusive parent.

However the reality of employing plausible approaches that bring the best outcomes for children and adolescents is often faced with multi-directional untoward challenges for the child survivor, as well as non-abusive parent.

The aim of this national training day is to analyse the multi-dimensional impact of DVA on children and adolescents’ growth and development. We will also provide in depth guidance on the best approaches in addressing matters that arise, as the result of DVA, in the livelihood of children & adolescents as they grow and develop into adulthood.
